Hi, my name is Mike Farley and I am a Member of the Academy Trust, having stepped back from the governing body after a number of years of service.
My background is in Primary Education, be it a full time teacher or a consultant drama specialist.
I am a Community Pastor of Bridge Church in Lincoln, serving across many aspects of community life in Lincoln, especially the Southern side.
Susan worked in the further, adult and work-based learning sector for over 30 years in a variety of different organisations both public and voluntary.
This included various national quality initiatives and several inspectorates, and so enables her to bring experience of quality assurance and quality improvement.
In addition to being a school governor, Susan has various lay roles for the NHS organisations and is a co-chair of the East Midlands Patient and Public Involvement Senate of the East Midlands Academic Health Science Network.
I have been a head teacher for eighteen years in three different schools. I have taught for twenty eight years and I have worked in three different local authority regions. I am an international schools inspector and Advanced Reviewer for Challenge Partners. I love visiting other schools to challenge and support colleagues to be the best that they can be. I am passionate about having an impact on teaching and learning and empowering learners (both children and adults) to achieve. I lead Manor Leas Junior Academy in the way that I would like my children’s school to be led - with enthusiasm, dedication and a clear understanding of learning for the longer-term development of students.
In my spare time I play golf, watch football (as a Lincoln and Leeds fan!) and spend time with my family. As a family we love to go on long walks with our dog, often ending the journey with some lovely refreshments at the end!
I was born and grew up in Lincoln. After training as a teacher I returned to teach in North Hykeham for over 35 years.
Now retired, I am the administrator of a charitable trust, have set up a local women’s group and have, for several years, run an online book selling business.
I have three grandchildren aged 18, 21 and 26 and so after several years as a governor of Manor Leas Junior Academy I am still very interested in education.
I was born and brought up in Lincoln and went to Manor Leas Infant School as a child. My training was at Bishop Grosseteste College to become a Primary Teacher and I have been a teacher for over 20 years. I have worked at MLJA for eight years but before that have taught for most of my career in Bristol and Bath. In addition to teaching, I am a Mum to two children, a wife and a dog owner. I love spending any spare time in the garden, playing the piano or baking.
Hi my name is Alice, I have a Son at Manor Leas Junior Academy and a son at the Infant school too.
I am a self-employed drama practitioner, I work around the county and in the city too. I am based at the Drill Hall where I run several groups and events. I have been working in the community since I graduated in 2000 from Bishop Grosseteste College.
I have recently retired as a Senior Lecturer from the University of Lincoln and have spent some 30 years working in Higher Education, Adult Education and Museum Education. In addition to teaching, I have experience in curriculum development leadership, and educational quality assurance. I am currently undertaking volunteer teaching support in primary schools in Lincoln, including Manor Leas Junior, and am planning to qualify in Teaching and Learning Support for Primary Education. I love what I have seen so far of the friendliness, dedication and creativity of the teaching and leadership teams at Manor Leas. I am enthusiastic about supporting them and being an ambassador for the school. I mainly divide my time on historical research, political and social campaigning, and aqua aerobics. Having 3 grandchildren, of primary school age and younger ( and especially getting involved with their online learning during lockdown), has given me insights into what enthuses them and how they learn.
I am a local Chartered Accountant with several years' experience working with academies, ranging from single to multi-school trusts. I live in Lincoln with my wife, young daughters and two dogs, Frank and Bruno.
I was born in Lincoln and have lived in North Hykeham for over 20 years. Parent of two former pupils at the school. I am now retired but worked in public sector finance in Lincolnshire for over 35 years.
I was born in Lincoln and left to study Geography and English at Oxford Brookes University. I then returned to lovely Lincoln for my teacher training year at Bishop Grosseteste. I have worked at Manor Leas for six years in Year 3, 4 and 5. One of my highlights from Year 5 was directing the cast of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. Last year I was lucky enough to go on three residentials with Year 4, 5 and 6. I particularly enjoyed the mini mudder course. I have had the pleasure of mentoring several student teachers whilst at Manor Leas. In my spare time I enjoy horse riding and climbing.
Hi, I'm Zoe Walters and my son currently attends Manor Leas Junior Academy. I have lived in Lincoln since the age of 14. I previously worked as a Probation Officer for 12 years and now work for the Lincolnshire Safeguarding Children Partnership. I am excited to have the opportunity to be a parent governor.
