Manor LeasJunior Academy

Where excellence and enjoyment go hand in hand

Our Governing Body

Welcome to our Governors’ section.

Please find below details of how our Governing body is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities and terms of appointment for each Governor.

We have also provided a Register of Governor Interests and an Annual Statement of Issues for your information.

You can find out more about the role of Governors and other background information on the Lincolnshire County Council website.

Mike Farley- Acting Chair

Hi, my name is Mike Farley and I am currently the Chair of Governors.  I have had this role for about three and a half years.

My background is in Primary Education, be it a full time teacher or a consultant drama specialist.

Since 2009, I have been a local church minister, leading Lincoln Christian Fellowship which currently meets in Bracebridge Community Centre.

Susan Edge- Vice Chair

Susan worked in the further, adult and work-based learning sector for over 30 years in a variety of different organisations both public and voluntary.

This included various national quality initiatives and several inspectorates, and so enables her to bring experience of quality assurance and quality improvement.

In addition to being a school governor, Susan is a trustee of two charities and a member of NHS Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group’s governing body.

James Greenwood- Headteacher

I have been a head teacher for twelve years in three different schools. I have taught for twenty two years and have worked in three different local authority regions. I am passionate about developing learning and driving schools forward, empowering learners (both children and adults) to achieve both now and in the future. I lead Manor Leas in the way that I would like my children’s school to be led, with enthusiasm, commitment and an understanding of a rounded education.

In my spare time I love to spend time with my wife, Amanda, and my children, Louis and Amelia. We, as a family, love to go on long walks with our dog, Bobby.

Pat Coates

I was born and grew up in Lincoln. After training as a teacher I returned to teach in North Hykeham for over 35 years.

Now retired, I am the administrator of a charitable trust, have set up a local women’s group and have, for several years, run an online book selling business.

I have three grandchildren aged 12, 15 and 20 and so with several years as a governor of Manor Leas Junior Academy I am still very interested in education.

Jo Denny

I was born and brought up in Lincoln and went to Manor Leas Infant School as a child. My training was at Bishop Grosseteste College to become a Primary Teacher and I have been a teacher for almost 20 years.  I have worked at MLJA for four years but before that have taught for most of my career in Bristol and Bath.  In addition to teaching, I am a Mum to two children, a wife and a dog owner.  I love spending any spare time in the garden, playing the piano or baking.

Martin Dickinson

My name is Martin Dickinson, I currently work for a global bank in a multi faceted role which centres around both internal and external communications alongside improving customer journeys. I'm confident that the skills which I've developed in this role can be transferable to school governance.

I live in Lincoln with my wife, Michelle and our two children, Harry and Ellie. We're kept busy with days out, dog walks and exploring the city, especially the historic uphill area. In my spare time I enjoy watching sport, mostly football and rugby in the winter and cricket in the summer.

David Gaskell

Hello.  I have been engaged with Manor Leas Infants and Junior Schools since 2006.

As a Parent Governor at both Academies over this period, I have gained a much deeper insight into the role and purpose of a curriculum based and holistic Education for the Year Groups.  Latterly, this has been focused towards  Key Stage 2, Years 3-6.  I have found the experience  stimulating  and rewarding.  The past 12 months has focused on Transition issues and the Impact of Pupil Premium Funding.

It is a pleasure  to be able to contribute to the evolving agendas and see School Improvement objectives consolidated .

Sally Hancock

Hi, my name is Sally Hancock and I live locally with my husband and two sons.  Our eldest son is now at LSST in Year 8, and our youngest son is at Manor Leas in Year 5.

I love learning and recently completed a Heritage degree at Bishop Grosseteste university.  I love history and art, and am an avid reader.

I currently work for the National Trust at Belton House as House Steward.  This means I get to look after the mansion and the precious collection, and all the lovely visitors!

Alice Kinloch

Hi my name is Alice, I have a Son at Manor Leas Junior Academy and a son at the Infant school too.

I am a self-employed drama practitioner, I work around the county and in the city too. I am based at the Drill Hall where I run several groups and events. I have been working in the community since I graduated in 2000 from Bishop Grosseteste College.
