At Manor Leas Junior Academy, we aim to provide a varied, engaging innovative curriculum by providing a range of physical experiences. We achieve this by providing rich opportunities to explore activities, including: netball, tag-rugby, football, tennis, cricket, athletics, rounders, cross-country, hockey and swimming. We believe that PE is a vital and important contributor to every child's physical and mental health.
At Manor Leas Junior Academy, children are encouraged to take part in active playtimes currently through socially distanced games. Children have been encouraged and supported to lead and play their own games to support children's leadership skills in all areas but particularly sport.
This year, we have introduced multiple initiatives to promote and further engage pupils in regular physical activity in addition to their regular PE lessons. A Daily Mile structure is currently in place for Lower Key Stage 2, which the children actively look forward to. The aim of the Daily Mile is to improve the physical, social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing of our children - regardless of age, ability or personal circumstance. A Get to Tokyo initiative is currently in place in Year 6 to track their activity levels on a daily basis.
